He Can’t What? What God Can’t Do.

Years ago, I was given a gift. It was a book small book called 101 Things God Can’t Do. Simply put, and I think it may be more semantics than anything else, I believe there are things the great I AM, the Author and Finisher of our Faith can not do. But you might say, no. There is nothing God can’t do. I’ve gathered just a few from the book and I would like to share them, with a little commentary by yours truly.  Simple, short and concise.

1. God can’t be beaten at giving.

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full–pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.–Luke 6:38

It says to give with a cheerful heart. Really that may be the only way to really give. Give of your time, of your love. Give of your faith. Give of your knowledge. And test Him. He will come through.

2. God can’t be understood by human understanding.

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!–Romans 11:33

I am very blessed and overjoyed, daily, in knowing that Gods ways are not our own. He has a plan. Sometimes it may not make sense. Other times it may downright suck…but He knows what He is doing.

3. God can’t forget those who serve Him.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.–Hebrews 6:10

Almost 14 years ago-sheesh-I was car shopping. I didn’t have a lot of money. I had a new baby and things were, while I won’t say tough, they were not easy. I remember my fahter saying to me “You served Him, now He is going to bless you.” See, what he was referring to was the fact that I served in church and beyond that did so many things involving the church and well, service. Of course I never did it because I expected anything in return, but the day my dad told me that, I knew exactly what he meant. Me being me at the time, I said to myself, who am I that God would bless me? Sure enough, I found a car. A new one. That little car ended up taking us where we needed for almost NINE years. So, I know-He can not forget those who serve Him. Keep doing what you’re doing-if it’s good. 🙂

4. God can’t give imperfect gifts.

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.–James 1:7

When we think of Gods gifts, we think of our spouses, loved ones. Our children. We see our children as perfect. We should also count among those gifts our talents. Whether it’s writing, speaking, singing, writing…sharing the Word. These are His gifts and according to the Word-they are good and perfect. Again, He knows what He is doing. We should trust that what He gives us-was meant to be given to us.

5. God’s Word can’t pass away.

Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear. Matthew 24:35

I had to include this one to conclude. Because it ties it all in together in an awesome bundle of truth. His truth. What He says, He’s going to do. What He has given us He planned before we were born. Nothing we do or say will change anything of what He says. Though we can make mistakes and very poor choices in this lifetime, God remains True. His Word can not pass. Hold on to that beautiful hope.

Be blessed.
