New Books!!

I have this problem. I love buying books. I love buying books almost as much as I enjoy reading them. The problem is that I never seem to catch up on my “to be read” pile. I know I’m not the only one in this boat (looks at every other book fan)

The good news is that there is a constant stream of excellent writing being published. We live in the day of Kindle E-Readers, bookstagram accounts, and 99 cent sales. Today, let me tell you about a few upcoming books that I’m really looking forward to snagging (and one that my wife has been impatiently waiting for.)

The Ghost Mine by Ben Wolf

First up on my list is a scifi horror by my Splickety-Boss – Ben Wolf. He’s in no way forcing me into this promotion. He hooked me by saying it was similar to one of my favorite movies: Alien. I’m not a horror fan, but I love suspense, and there’s nothing more suspenseful than a snarling alien that no ones knows how to kill.

Catch Ben’s scifi debut (on sale today!)

The Story Peddler by Lindsay Franklin

I don’t know where to start with this book. I have my copy, and am ashamed that I haven’t had the time to finish it. It’s killing me that I’m about two thirds, and some craziness has happened, and I may juist stay up until 2am to see how it turns out.

The Story Peddler starts off about Tanwin, a young woman with the ability to weave the stories she tells into swirling crystals. She’s a bit of a dying breed, as the king has strict orders about what stories are allowed to be told. Tanwin has a past she doesn’t understand, and is thrust into a future on the run. Lindsay had me hooked with her first few lines.

Seriously. You need to read this book.

Fawkes by Nadine Brandes

I picked up Nadine’s first book, A Time to Die, a few years ago. I plowed through the book. She had me wanting more at the end of each chapter. When I found out she was working on a book about the Gunpowder plot, I knew this book had a spot on my shelf.

This book is a historical fiction take on the events to assassinate the King of England (and all Parliament) told from the perspective of a young man who has an interesting choice to make: Join in the plot, or forfeit his own life. I can’t wait to get this book!

Launch by Jason Joyner

I was able to Beta read this book for Jason a year or so ago. Launch intrigued me with the concept of young people who were blessed by God with super powers for “such a time as this.” Jason took the concept of the right person being at the right place for God to move, and cranked it to 11 by throwing super powers into the mix.

Launch focuses on a group of young people attending a social media conference, While discovering their gifts, revealing hidden pasts, and building relationships that will unite them against a hidden enemy. Launch releases in about a month, so snag a pre-order and watch for the rest of the series!

Song of Leira by Gillian Bronte Adams

The conclusion to The Songkeeper Chronicles releases today. This story is an epic fantasy that follows the journey of a young orphan names Birdie. When she discovers her tie to a hunted group of Songkeepers, she is faced with the challenge of saving her world.

I have yet to dive into this series myself. Book one is sitting on my TBR pile, but I’m looking forward to diving into this rich fantasy world. It hits on all the big marks – monsters, battlefields, magic, and strong characters.

Unbreakable by Sara Ella

This one comes from my wife’s TBR pile. I picked up Unblemished for her last year, and she’s been impatiently waiting for the conclusion of this trilogy. (It’s currently on order.)

If you’re into magic and fairytales, and a touch of alternate dimension – take a look at this series!

Is there a book burning a spot on your TBR pile? Do you have a summer book launch that just can’t get here fast enough? Let me know in the comments below, or catch me on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Until next time!
