Conference Notes: Realm Makers 2017 Keynote

Y’all forgive me if this is discombobulated; I was typing as fast as I could, but Ted Dekker shared so much … I’m afraid this is just a taste and may not connect all the dots. But I wanted you to have an idea of how awesome this talk was. Most of this is not direct quotation but my paraphrase. So here you go:

We all feel like outsiders; anyone who doesn’t has made it. The rest of us are still making it. There’s nowhere to get; there’s only the place to be.
(To the emcee) Is @#$% a bad word here?
We are all making this @#$% up.
We’re the vagabonds leaving the plateau to find the rest of the world. Others are stuck.
You have the courage to go where others don’t go.
People tell you to stay in their framework. We’re already outside the framework because we’re in this room.

What we see isn’t really what’s here. What you’re seeing is a distortion of what’s really there. Story is something we tell ourselves about what we believe. We live in story. It’s a perception of reality. In any situation our interpretation governs our reaction.
What you believe manifests. You create your life through your belief.
You are not a victim. You are creating your own story.
Our father is infinite and cannot be threatened; so why do we fear?
Jesus said it is finished — there is no battle.
We’re blind. What we see isn’t what’s really here. We’re full of offense and grievance. We all come blind to discover ourselves as the light of the world.
Do you know who you are? Are you less the light of the world if you’re compromised (e.g. disabled)? You cannot disable the sons and daughters of God.
Life is a process of transformation. We have costumes—spouse, writer— but that’s only your avatar. When your avatar is compromised, that’s not who you are. You are the light of the world. The glory of God will be revealed. You are a glorified being. Divine. Hidden in Christ before the foundations of the earth. Have you met your true self or only your avatar. Your journey is being a blind person coming to see. Jesus said the eye (perception) is the lamp of the body. If your perception is clear, your body is filled with light. If not, you have darkness and how deep is that darkness. If you see a problem, it’s because you’re not seeing correctly.
The knowledge of good and evil is your problem. Perception.
The kingdom of heaven is not coming. The kingdom is here and now in your being.
When he was writing to discover himself, that was when people started paying attention because he was being authentic. Since we are all on the same journey, people could relate.
You are far more beautiful and powerful than you know. To be free of the stories that keep you suffering, change your story. You are storytellers.
There is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all!—Colossians 3:11
