Realm Makers is this week! YES!
As you read this, I’m probably trying to fit everything I want to take in a suitcase and carry-on bag and finishing up my costume–because I’m a last-minute person like that. Or…ok, just call me a procrastinator. I am. 🙂
For those who haven’t heard of it–where have you been? 😉 Realm Makers is a start-up conference for writers of Christian speculative fiction. The inaugural conference was held last year in St. Louis, and this year, it’s being held in Philadelphia.
Last year was easy to go to, because St. Louis is only three hours away from both my parents and my in-laws. We just stopped off there for a few days before continuing down to visit. It was perfect, especially since Toby was only four months old at the time. This year…well, I’m flying. This is only my second time flying ever, and my first time traveling alone ever. (I’m not a traveler. I dream about it, but when it’s all said and done, I’d much prefer to stay home. Can you say hobbit? 😉 ) And I have a layover both going to Philadelphia and coming home…in Detroit, of all places.
Eesh. If the least that happens is that I get a faceful of zits from the stress, then I’ll count this as a success.
BUT! I’m still super excited. Last year, I coordinated outfits with a couple of friends so we were all from Doctor Who, which was fabulous! This year another friend and I are coordinated, but I can’t tell you about it because it’s a surprise. 🙂 If you want to see sneak peek photos of my costume-in-progress, I blogged about it over at my website.
Can’t wait! I’m sure there will be many, many photos on Facebook and plenty of post-conference blog posts, so if you haven’t managed to go this year, be sure to keep an eye out for those. To those who are going–see ya there! 🙂
