Realm Makers Reflections (and a Call for Faculty!)

462437_564380750258908_975124707_oDid you know that the next Realm Makers conference is going to be May 30-31 in the suburbs of Philadelphia? No? Well, you really should check out all the new information for Realm Makers 2014 on the Faith and Fantasy Alliance blog. It’s definitely not too early to start planning!

It’s been a few months since the first conference, and parts of it still stick out to me. My roommates were awesome–even when the day’s events were done, there was still so much to learn just from those amazing women. *waves to Morgan, Lindsay, and Jill* LB Graham’s workshop was invaluable and inspirational. Ben Wolf taught us how to stage fight with fists and swords! And Jeff Gerke–he is such an encouragement and a wealth of information. Authors from Marcher Lord Press, Diminished Media, and Splashdown Books (as well as a few other places) showed up for the book signing!

While I don’t know what could top being at the first-ever conference for speculative fiction writers who write from a Christian worldview, this year Tosca Lee is going to be the keynote speaker. I am so excited! Already they’ve opened up nominations for the Parable Award (best book cover for 2013)!

If you’re looking for ways to get involved, check out the information below:

Realm Makers is in need of some sponsors and has several packages available!

Even more, Realm Makers is looking for workshop presenters for 2014! Why teach? Well, other than the obvious benefits, you get a free registration to the conference. That’s reason enough, right? Find out more here:

If you want to stay up to date with everything going on (and I know they have some exciting announcements coming up in the next couple of months), you can follow Realm Makers on Facebook and Twitter!

I am definitely making this conference a priority on my list of things to do in 2014! What say ye? Are you going to try to make it to Realm Makers 2014?

  1. Yep, I think I’ll be there. 🙂

Seriously, though…I think people are going to be very happy with the venue and the lineup this year, based on the proposals I’m receiving. And while I know putting it on the East Coast makes it a little trickier for some folks to make it out, Villanova University looks like it’s going to be comfortable, easy to get around, and beautiful.

I’m looking forward to seeing who joins us this time around.

  2. I wish I could go! Hopefully in 2015. I practically drooled over the Facebook updates on Realm Makers this year. It’s a wonderful genre-specific conference and I look forward to the day I can partake in it. 🙂

    • I pray that you are able to come in 2015, or maybe even the Lord blesses you with a way to come in 2014! He moves mountains for His children!
