Ocilla Art

New and fresh off the pad! I just finished my drawing of Ocilla, the heroine of Diane’s book.

OscillaI started it a while back, toying with the idea of entering it in that joint venture between her and Keven. However, it took longer than expected (yep, the texturing took a while).

I really enjoyed this project. Most of my character drawings have been just the face, but I included far more for this one. It gave me the opportunity to do some clothing, symbols and the necklace is my interpretation of what I read in the book.

For those interested in the stats, this is a graphite/pencil drawing and the paper is 11″x14″

  1. The detail is superb and I do love to see how your mind interpreted Ocilla. Great job, little sister.

    • Thanks Sis. Glad you like it. I did enjoy doing it. Now I guess I just have to decide if I’m going to keep it or if I shall gift the original to you as well…

  2. Lovely! And as always, you are the hair master. Seriously. Hair is so hard to draw and you ROCK.

    • Thanks Kat. Hair does seem to be something I enjoy doing. Ocilla’s hair was pretty easy though comparatively. No curls or anything. It was the dress texture that took forever. lol

Apparently I can get rather obsessive compulsive about those sort of details.

  3. Stunning! You do such awesome work, Ren!

I still treasure the drawings you did for one of my stories, too. Can’t wait until the book containing them is released. One drawing in particular shows your excellent talent in melding solid technique with the utterly fantastic and bringing the subject to life.

    • Thanks Francis. Yours were fun too. Not everyday you get to create a water dress. lol

I’ve toyed with doing your device. I’ve been playing with digital art on illustrator and figure that would probably be a good medium for it.

  4. I never had a super clear picture of Ocilla in my head–I think I’ll always see her as this picture now. Beautiful job, Ren! 🙂
