It’s that time of year again. People are starting to ask that question that we never really have an answer for (at least I don’t)–“What do you want for Christmas?” So, for a fun way to kick off our week, let’s do a little dreaming.
What’s your passion? Beyond family and such, what drives you? Mine, of course, is writing. So, as a writer, what do I want for Christmas?
1. Standing Desk–I’ve seen a few writers posting about these desks. Most of the time, we sit down to write. But then sometimes my back hurts, or my legs. Sometimes I get so caught up in the action/emotions of the scene that I can’t sit still. Once in awhile, I’m multi-tasking and just don’t want to have to get up and down. I’ve even gone so far as to write at a kitchen counter just because I didn’t want to sit down. It’s a matter of convenience, I suppose. Still–I want one!
2. A weekend at a hotel–Just me and my laptop. And possibly a writing buddy. Perfect weekend, right?
3. New Bookshelves–My one hope when we finally get our house is that I can have a room where I can put up bookshelves along one wall. Might make it easier to organize all my books, my writing stuff, and the million ideas in my head. Well, I guess the bookshelves may not be able to help with the last one.
What about you? What is your passion? And what does that passion want for Christmas?
I want a new laptop. I’ve started putting money away, but I’m not sure I’ll have it by Christmas.
January, maybe.
I am longing for a new iMac, but that’s a long way away. I’d settle for book-buying funds for the Kindle store. And a new pair of black dress boots. Not that boots have anything to do with writing…I just really want some new boots. 😉
A new desk! My old one is–well, old. And too small. I do best when I have a lot of space to spread out, which is why when I plot or edit, I usually end up sitting on the floor. My back has been protesting that lately…so it’s definitely time for a nice big desk. 🙂
Time…any bit of time… Time is far more precious. For Christmas, I want a space of time to write without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else.
And some shiny new pens.
And elf ear cuffs, just because. http://www.etsy.com/search?includes%5B%5D=tags&q=elf+ear+cuff
I second Janeen with the time. And maybe some accountability to push me onwards…
But yeah, I hate that Q too because I never have an answer and I get asked it. 😛
As a reader there are a few dozen books that would be cool to own. XD
A new chair to sit in while I write. Mine was quite a few years old when I got it, and I have used it quite a few more years after that.
Great gift ideas, guys! I am so with y’all on the time to write without the guilt. As a homeschool mama of 3 with a disabled hubby, whenever I write during the day, I always feel there is something else I should be doing.
And, Kristen…score! I want some new dress boots, too. Mine are packed away in storage, so I have no idea when I’ll get to see them again. 😦
