Today is a very special day. My husband and I celebrate nineteen years of marriage. Look how young and naive we were. I was sixteen and of course I knew everything. Quinton was nineteen and was ready to conquer the world. Ah…youth.

I would like to tell you all that the time between then and now has been butterflies and rainbows but that would be a lie. I try very hard not to lie. What it was, we often call that life.

When we were young, we treated each other very carelessly. I must admit that we broke each other inside and out many times. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am a firm believer that each event in life must happen to bring you to where you need to be.

Honestly, our chances of making it through were slim to none…everyone said so. We cheated, lied and betrayed all for no other reason than we could. The world wore our resolve more times than I care to count. Somewhere along the way, I began to pray over our marriage. Somewhere along the way, HE took over and saved it. HE nurtured it into something beautiful and lovely.

The conflict and heartache we have endured welded our hearts where it would split others apart. Through our pain, we found healing in God. Through our pain, we found a love for the ages.  Against all the odds, our marriage has blossomed and we take extra special care of the other now.

For my love…my friend…Happy Anniversary.

NOTE…This picture was taken yesterday by my daughter. The camera reset and I have no idea how to fix it. LOL

Peace, love and God’s will.

  6. that’s so touching and honest, Diane. Congrats to you both for 19 years of glory to our great God, the lover of our souls and the author of finisher of our faith. May he write in many wonderful years of passion and fruitfulness to you and Quinn.

    Lord Bless!

  7. Well, one thing for sure, I have learned to save your blogs until I can get alone….because you move me to having tears in my eyes every single time!

Your honesty is so refreshing and I don’t believe that anyone could be that transparent without overcoming the long and winding bumpy roads through destiny. Your road is straight and narrow now. God will bless you richly. As I learned from a speaker at a Christian woman’s conference, when we say “For better or worse” the vow does not mean the better or worse that we do to each other. It means the better or worse that comes to us as a couple because to cleave means “glued”. We are glued together. God sent us out in twos because two can send 10,000 problems aflight.

Your inspiration is ever giving, Lady Di! I have one beef though…how come you two get better with age? Do you have a fountain of youth there in your neck of the woods. You look mar-vel-lous!

    Happy Anniversary!

  8. Congratulations to both of you.

  9. Happy Anniversary, Diane. May you both have many more years together on your mountain. 🙂
