Praise the Lord, the time has come! The most wonderful time of the year! My FAVORITE time of the year! Yes, I’m one of those people who go nuts at Christmas time–but if you were around last year, you already knew that. I have no problem with Christmas music before Thanksgiving. My tree would go up before then, too, if my husband would let me put it up. I think it adds a certain festiveness to Thanksgiving. I love the Advent season. I get shivers just thinking about it!
One thing about this season, though, is that it tends to be very busy! School activities, church activities, Christmas parties every weekend (and during the week) all thrown in on top of our everyday chaos. Something’s gotta give, right?
So, I’m curious, do you keep up with your writing in December? Or is one of the things you let slide?
I tend to fall somewhere in the middle. While I definitely don’t have as much time or energy to commit to it as the rest of the year, I still try to make sure I find some time to write–even if it’s just my blog posts. But, I quit keeping track of word counts and the lot. I just try to have fun with it.
Right now, though, it’s back to time with my family. We’re heading back to Kentucky tomorrow. Three kids in a van for 9 hours by myself. That spells FUN! Or insanity.
The New Authors Fellowship 
So many things slide during the holidays (and not just kids on toboggans- may I just be proud of myself for spelling that right without looking it up? I’m from FL, I’ve never even *seen* a toboggan).
Writing has to give, if not from the busyness, from the gray that saps my creativity. I’m one of those people who gets depressed through the holidays except at actual events. I still debate whether those few hours of happiness are worth the days of stress leading up to them.
It might have helped had we not chosen to get married on New Year’s Eve and had my husband’s birthday not been at the beginning of January. So, this introvert has to be “on” from around Thanksgiving to about MLKJr day. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
That said, people like you give my spirits a lift. I never begrudge y’all your joy and often try to get close to people who are happiest at this time of year. =)
I can’t imagine all the energy it takes for introverts to get through this time of year. There’s so much expected. Just remember not to over extend yourself and to give the introvert part of you time to recharge by doing stuff for YOU. Very important. Heck, it’s still important to this extrovert! 🙂 Christmas isn’t meant to be a burden, but a joy!
