We all here people talking about the innocence of a child, but oh the things they already know! Yesterday was my son’s 2nd birthday, and it was so much fun celebrating the little man he’s become. As I contemplated the wonderful bundle of joy he is, I realized that we can learn a lot from him. So, here are my very astute lessons from a toddler.
*Bugs belong in the trashcan–dead or alive.
*When Daddy is not at home, the oldest man becomes the alpha male and must protect the house at all costs. Any other toddlers must be banished!
*Mud is rejuvenating for the skin pores AND the wall pores, the floor pores, clothes…pretty much everything!
*You can never see your favorite show too many times. Ever. Even in one day.
*Technology is here to stay, so you better jump on board. (My son is just now 2 and has been playing games and making phone calls on my husband’s phone for months! AND he’s figured out my Galaxy Tab as well.)
*Hands and feet should be clean and at all times, and if they aren’t–scream!
*If you want Mommy or Daddy’s attention, go for the laptop…or the stinky pullup.
*Burping is fun. So are rasberries.
*If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again. This is good for jumping, climbing, and favorite foods.
*Any kind of pasta is EVIL and must be demolished.
*You can easily get exercise inside by playing the “up-down” game and running in place, maybe throw in a little dancing.
*If you get into trouble for something, the best thing you can do is laugh and smile.
*Family is the best–give hugs and kisses as often as you can. And never forget to say “I love you.”
Happy Birthday, baby boy! We love you!

Hmm… I should try that mud thing. I need a little rejuvenation. Maybe that’s what’s been missing from my life!
