WORTHY

I have a dear friend that inspired me to write this weeks post.  She is having an epiphany really. Something that has always seemed so clear to me has eluded her for many years.  She has never considered herself worthy of the good and wonderful things God has offered his children.  Well, not until someone else told her so. Now, it is something she is contemplating seriously.

Honestly when she told me this, I felt a deep sorrow for her. Not pity…please don’t misunderstand. She is a natural encourager and no one considers that an encourager needs encouragement. At least I didn’t think of that. Shame on me.

She always thought asking for blessings for one’s self would be considered selfish. But I contend the opposite is the truth. I believe God has laid the blessings out and they are just waiting for His children to come along and gather them up. The best example that comes to mind of this is in the Bible.

1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

Jabez asked God to bless him and give him more territory. He also asks for God’s protection. But what I find the most intriguing part is he asks for God’s hand to be with him. I think that is a crucial part of the prayer. That is the part that makes Jabez worthy of the blessings and God grants his request.

When you actively seek Him and center your life around Him, you show your faith in Him. What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 KJV

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith makes you, me and my dear friend worthy of heaven and all of God’s blessings. We need only to let Him in to work His wonders.

Peace, love and God’s will

  1. Good thing that I have not put on my war paint this morning, I would be looking like Tammy Faye Baker (God rest her soul) this morning! My mustard seed faith has just grown into an oak! As Joyce Meyers says there is a battlefield of the mind. Each of us have our own walk in Christ, each chapter carefully written by the Lord if you let Him do that! As I looked around seeing the blessings of the Lord rest on others, I would always be happy for them, genuinely happy…God gave them great careers, close , giving relationships, miracles that could be seen by the world. More often than not, there are people like me that have been born into a struggle, suffered violence, ran against the wind all their lives in chapter after chapter, line upon line, in their journey. We can always look around and see someone that has suffered more and our tender hearts are moved with compassion. So why not allow that compassion to be the balm of Giliad on our own hearts? Until we can know worthiness for ourselves , we cannot truly ever show the world that our Jesus did not die in vain in our personal lives. I will arise from my sleep every morning with the conscious knowing that through God , I am worthy of all the goodness there is. Worthy of His love and not on the outside looking in at the blessed!

Thank you my sweet , Lady Di…to be worthy enough to be called “friend” by you is the watering of the seed “Worthy”.

  2. Another example would be the prodigal son. Even when he went away from his father, he was welcome back into the fold. All of the benefits of being the child of a loving father awaited him. He only had to come back to the father with a humble heart.

I love you Eagle and so does God. :D

  3. beautiful, Diane. So amazing what God has done, and it must be my Catholic upbringing showing, but it does boggle the mind that Jesus could count as as worth the pain and suffering he went through to redeem me. That’s why I love your book. It shows the deep love God has–the passion–for his Bride that would make Him want to rescue her and free her to be all she was meant to be. To see her as lovely and desirable and worthy. I so want to see Ocilla get published. It is the story of faith.

    • Thank you, Kathy. Your opinion is very dear to me and I must say I agree…I am in awe of the love God has given.
